Echoing around the well worn buildings and wrinkly tar covered cobblestones of Lowell, Massachusetts, Moody Street Sound evoke the tone of a soul seeking to be soothed. Laying down a combination of Latin infused Jazz, relaxed Funk, and hazy Blues as their foundation, the group embodies a groove born out of the dicey days and mad midnights of the Mill City’s unique creative culture.
The sextet comprised of Jessenia Moreira (Vocal), Ryder Corey (Saxophone), James DeFelippo (Keyboard), Colin Murphy (Guitar), Paul Poremski (Bass), and Nick Campbell (Drums), met while studying at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Mutually drawn together by the appreciation of artists like Herbie Hancook, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, and Alabama Shakes, Moody Street Sound build off their sense of comradery as they develop a sonic signature of their own.
